AHK scripts aren't actually 'compiled' in the traditional sese. A so-called compiled script is just the source code and the AutoHotKey's binary packaged into a single file. And since AHK uses native windows API to accomplish pretty much everything, you can't use it on other OS. AutoHotkey (AHK) is a free, open-source macro-creation and automation software for Windows that allows users to automate repetitive tasks. It is driven by a scripting language that was initially aimed at providing keyboard shortcuts, otherwise known as hotkeys, that over time evolved into a full-fledged scripting language.

It's natural, a part of life, a learning curve which we use to better ourselves. Typos are no exception. They happen often, and if writing forms a. It contains tons of common misspellings and when you commit one, it instantly replaces it with the correct version. It even allows you to edit your own words in, which we’ll discuss later.

But with Automator, you can either record events using a recorder, which makes life a lot easier, or you can use the GUI based tool to generate macros based on smaller tasks. You actually DO need Autohotkey on the MAC! I have been fussing with Applescript but it is really too cumbersome. I'm a programmer whereas Applescript has been written for non-programmers (I could go past that), however, the recording does not work. Or better, it only works with applications that are 'Applescritable', ie.

I use BetterTouchTools. It can emulate button pressees, mouse clicks, lots of useful functions depending on the currently open application. Ex: F1 in evernote makes text bold, F2 makes text bigger, F3 selects the whole line: BetterTouchTools was free until very recently.

I've never used Mac and so have never looked into it. However, a google search gave me could you also explain how the AHK binary + source code works and runs?.exe files are almost always just some binary combined with other files. So, AHK runs the script just as it would normally, only that it is inside the exe file instead of being in some folder (think of itas if the script and the exe are put in a zip, and when you run the exe, it unzips the script file and runs it - This isn't technically accurate, but gives you a pretty good picture) also, how do you know that that’s how it’s compiled (and not machine code)? Generally exe are compressed and encrypted, so it's hard/impossible to separate out the various parts.

Or might give you some of the macro stuff without actual macros. You'll be dealing with actual application hooks instead of input hacks, but it's worth checking out. There's also Spotlight.

What subset of AHK functionality are you trying to mimic? Comes up in this discussion kind of a lot. You can have it store snippets of text, fire scripts, and move a lot of stuff between programs.

But an AHK script generally isn't compressed (though you can compress), so just by using a tool like Resource Hacker, you can separately see the script. Also, it says somewhere in the docs (I'm too lazy to look it up now) • • • •.

Ex: F1 in evernote makes text bold, F2 makes text bigger, F3 selects the whole line: BetterTouchTools was free until very recently. Now it switched to a 'pay as much as you like' model with a minimum of ~2 dollars or so. However, it's a GUI based automater, it doesn't have the programming features that Autohotkey has. You can however combine multiple actions like activating a window, press a button, hide a window again etc.

Been tearing my hair out because I use a lot of the keyboard shortcuts in AHK on WinXP. Searched for a Mac equivalent but nothing Then after a bit of more searching I found Typinator.

Stuck After that, when I was trying to synchronize Outlook to Exchange server to access stored data then I got Could Not Synchronize Outlook Mac Record error.

Almost none nowadays. Check box word for mac. Basically it sucks.

Like on my system, 'ddte' becomes '2009.08.22' in any program whenever I'm typing. Or might give you some of the macro stuff without actual macros.
